Join Megan Simpson E-RYT 500 and Sandra Van Dong-DeLaRonde RYT-200 for 8 days and 7 nights in vibrant Costa Rica this March at the warmest, most welcoming Eco Lodge in Guanacaste. The view from the lodge is bright, beautiful and full of life. There is a reason that this is Yogigos 7th time returning to El Sabanero Eco Lodge located on the pacific side of the country, about 15 minutes from the chilled out surf town of Tamarindo.
Go for a walk around the lodge and you are guaranteed to see Louis; the resident iguana, howler monkeys, and countless colourful birds. We have actually included several beach excursions into your retreat so that you get the opportunity to visit a variety of the local beaches including Tamarindo beach and Playa Avellanas. There will also be opportunities for additional excursions if you choose such as snorkelling at Playa Conchal; a beach made of seashells, zip lining, or SUP yoga at Playa Negra.
Yes the beaches are amazing and all unique, yes you are really going to fall in love with the chill “Pura Vida” vibe in this area, but the main reason we repeatedly come back to El Sabanero is for the absolute best culinary duo that will prepare for you the most delicious vegetarian meals that you will be dreaming about until the next time you return. This is definitely a retreat not to miss.

We will be staying at the remote property of El Sabanero Eco Lodge located on the pacific side of the country, about 15 minutes from the chilled out surf town of Tamarindo. El Sabanero is tucked up in the mountains looking down on the Cañafistula valley which means you get the benefit of the most incredible view, while being sandwiched in between a series of the countries most beautiful beaches. Enjoy the magic of the jungle while being a short drive away from the beaches. The yoga shala faces the valley where from your evening yoga class you will get to watch Costa Rica’s classic sunsets.
3 delicious healthy, vegetarian meals will be offered daily, prepared lovingly using local ingredients. Please notify me of any dietary restrictions or allergies upon booking so that arrangements can be made.
There will be 2 yoga classes offered daily and they are optional. They will be accessible for all levels and many modifications will be offered, both to simplify the poses or challenge you.
Extra Things to Note:
Safety - Costa Rica is a very clean and safe place to visit, and the property is also very safe. The people are friendly and there aren't major weather events (like earthquakes or hurricanes) that happen here regularly. As always while traveling, be cautious and smart. Avoid walking alone at night and do not carry large amounts of money with you.
Currency - Costa Rica uses both USD and Cordobas. It is a good idea to bring some of each currency. You may pay in USD but get change in Cordobas.
Electricity/Plugs - generally 110v and the same prongs as North America, so you will not need an adaptor.
Departure Tax - There is a $29USD departure tax when leaving Costa Rica. Some airlines include this cost, but some don’t, so you may be charged this upon departure from Liberia International Airport.
Megan Adele has been practicing yoga in some form or another since 2010, but really began to delve into it in 2010. She completed her first 200 hour training with Drishti in Ashtanga/Vinyasa in April 2014. Later in 2014 she was lucky enough to study Yin Yoga with Joe Barnett (student of Paul Grilley), and then Pre/Post Natal Yoga at Mamata Yoga. The prenatal yoga training was so inspiring that she decided to get certified as a birth doula, which she completed in early 2016. She has also completed a 500-hour teacher training in Power Yoga with Empowered Yoga, as well as a 50 hour meditation training with Matthew Remski, a 50 hour yoga for aging gracefully/chair yoga with Heidi Mason, and is a certified Barre instructor. Most recently she completed Rocket Power Yoga training in San Francisco at Asta Yoga. Megan leads global wellness retreats as well as planning and facilitating them for instructors around the country with Yogigos, a company she founded in 2015. Earlier this year she opened the doors to her own yoga studio, The Attic Yoga, which focuses on flow, power yoga and rocket. Megan feels so grateful to not only have found what she is truly passionate about, but also for the opportunity to share it with others. When she is not on her mat you can find Megan making handmade meditation malas, playing with puppies, or enjoying a local craft beer!
Sandra Van Dong-DeLaRonde acquired her 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher training in Baja California, where she was trained in Asana, Pranayama, Chanting, Anatomy, Prenatal and Restorative, as well as Physiology, Yogic Philosophy, Ethics and Lifestyle. She recently returned to Baja for a 100 hour Immersive Meditation training and is working towards the completion of her 300 Hours Advanced Yoga Alliance certification. Sandra’s approach to yoga is fun and nurturing and she loves inspiring others on their quest to improve wellness. Since her training she has taught 15 or more classes per week, and teaches a variety of styles, including Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Hatha and Restorative. She has also created her own brand and style, Beatz Yoga, combining her love of dance and yoga, which has continuously gained popularity in her community and has sold out events. She fully understands the need for balance in life, body and breath, and promotes self-love as a way of healing from the inside-out. Sandra would describe herself as “not a typical yogi,” neither in looks nor in physical form (you won’t see her in a headstand, or a complex, twisted posture on her Instagram), but she defines herself as, friendly, open-minded and approachable. When she’s not talking yoga and meditation, she’s talking food and family.
